RLO fifth at National School Rowing Championship

On 31 May the National School Rowing Championships were held at the renowned Bosbaan in Amsterdam. 24 schools participated with a total of 58 crews in this event in which many a future Olympic and world champion has participated.

Het Rijnlands Lyceum Oegstgeest participated in the mixed double skulls class. The one-off team of stroke Anna de Bever (DP2) and bow Stefano Manieri (TTO5), who had only been able to train once together before the race, achieved to a fantastic result. On the very wind course they managed to qualify for the A-final with their first 500 metre race.  In the final they managed to knock off another two seconds of their previous time to finish fifth. This result made them the fastest crew of their club Die Leythe, and, more importantly, they managed to beat the crews of local competitor Het Stedelijk Gymnasium Leiden. A great performance, which will hopefully be followed up by a new Rijnlands crew.
